How we rank pet groomers in Puchong

Who publishes this directory

Puchong Pet Groomers is published by Sarah Lim, who has spent 12 years working in local business marketing across Malaysia. Sarah maintains editorial oversight of every ranking in this directory. Questions or corrections can go directly to her at sarah@localmarketing.my.

What this directory covers

The directory currently lists 63 pet groomer businesses operating in and around Puchong. Every business in the index has been checked against public data before being included. Rankings are not assigned by hand or negotiation: they come entirely from the scoring rubric described below.

How the composite score works

Each business receives a single score from 0 to 100. That number is built from five measured signals, each weighted by how much it actually tells you about whether a groomer is worth visiting.

Signal Weight What it measures
Star rating 30% Google aggregate rating across all reviews
Sentiment 28% Synthesis of recent review themes: what customers praise and what they complain about
Review volume 18% Total number of reviews, log-scaled so a business with 200 reviews is not absurdly penalised against one with 2,000
Recency 14% How recently customers have left reviews, which signals whether the business is still active and consistent
Listing completeness 10% Whether a phone number, website, opening hours, and street address are all publicly listed

Why these signals, and why these weights

Star rating carries the most weight because it is the broadest summary of customer experience. Sentiment sits just behind it because a raw star average can hide patterns: a groomer might hold a 4.2 while recent reviews consistently mention a dog being returned with nicks or the wrong cut. Reading those themes catches what a number alone misses.

Volume is log-scaled deliberately. A shop in Pusat Bandar Puchong with 15 reviews is not automatically worse than one in Puchong Jaya with 300; it just gives us less evidence to work with. Recency matters because a groomer that was excellent in 2021 but has gone quiet since tells you little about today's service. Completeness rounds out the score because a business that does not publish its hours or phone number creates friction for pet owners trying to book.

Honest limits of the data

Businesses with few recent reviews receive a low-confidence label on their listing. The score is still calculated, but the label tells you to treat it with caution. A groomer that opened recently in Taman Perindustrian Puchong, for example, may rank lower simply because not enough customers have reviewed it yet, not because the grooming is poor.

We synthesise review content to identify themes: we do not republish individual reviews verbatim. For the source reviews themselves, each listing links directly to the business's Google profile so you can read them yourself.

Paid placement policy

Paid placements exist in this directory only as clearly labelled advertisements. A sponsored label will always be visible on any such listing. Payment never changes a business's composite score or its organic ranking position.

How often data is refreshed

Sarah updates the underlying data monthly. Every listing carries a "last verified" date stamp so you can see exactly when that business's information was last checked. If you spot something out of date, email sarah@localmarketing.my and it will be corrected in the next update cycle.

FAQ

Can a business pay to rank higher?
No. The composite score is calculated purely from the five data signals described above. Paid placements are available as advertisements and are always labelled as such, but they have no effect on a business's score or organic position in the rankings.
Why does a groomer I know near Puchong Prima have a low-confidence label?
Low-confidence labels appear when a business has too few recent reviews for the score to be reliable. The maths still runs, but we flag it so you know the result is based on thin evidence. More reviews over time will raise or lower the confidence level accordingly.
Where do the reviews come from?
All review data is drawn from Google. We analyse the content to identify recurring themes, but we do not republish individual reviews here. Each listing links to the business's Google profile so you can read the original reviews at the source.
How can I report an error or a business that has closed?
Email Sarah Lim directly at sarah@localmarketing.my. Data is refreshed monthly, and corrections flagged by readers are prioritised in the next update cycle.
